2009 Worldcon To Award Hugo For Best Graphic Novel

The organizers of Anticipation, the 67th World Science Fiction Convention to be held at the Palais des congrès de Montréal from August 6th - 10th, 2009 have announced that a Special Category Hugo Award for Best Graphic Story will be presented during the convention. (via Locus Online)

  • Élisabeth Vonarburg - Invitée d’honneur
  • Ralph Bakshi - Artist Guest of Honour
  • Taral Wayne - Fan Guest of Honour
  • Tom Doherty - Publisher Guest of Honour
  • David Hartwell - Editor Guest of Honour
  • Julie Czerneda - Master of Ceremonies

Nominations for the Hugos will start in January. The process is described as:

The Hugo Awards nomination ballots will be released after January 1, 2009. In order to nominate for the 2009 Hugo Awards, you must have been an attending or supporting member of Denvention, the 66th Worldcon, or you must be an attending or supporting member of Anticipation. The Hugo Awards voting ballots will be released in the Spring of 2009. In order to vote for the 2009 Hugo Awards, or you must be an attending or supporting member of Anticipation.

Current attending membership rates until December 31st, 2008 are $215 Cdn, US or AUD, 110£, 135€ and 23 000¥.
